About Me

My Work

I live in a quiet corner in Yelland, just outside Instow, North Devon, with my partner Tim and a little black cat called Weenie. Our little back garden is my haven where I like to grow as many bee-friendly flowers as I can, my own fruit and vege, and attract as much wildlife as possible.

I’ve always had a passion for the countryside and local wildlife – particularly the rich biodiversity found at Braunton Burrows and the vast wildernesses of Exmoor and Dartmoor – both a short drive away from my home.

From as early as I can remember I’ve been drawing and sketching. My family encouraged me from a little girl to draw caricatures and write storybooks. Collecting pressed leaves and flowers and documenting the world around me has always just come naturally, and has been a running theme in my art throughout my style development and education.

In 2011 I graduated from The University of Plymouth with a 2:1 BA (Hons) in Illustration. Throughout my degree I developed my love for mark-making an the expressive style I still use today in my paintings and sketches.

I find portraiture fascinating and enjoy capturing the essence and life of a subject in my work.  I’ve been fortunate enough to work on portraits of beloved pets and people. Every subject is special and unique and tells a story and I take my time to get every piece exactly right.

Since graduating I’ve also rediscovered my love for capturing nature and the outdoors, a branch of art that I’d missed working on mainly narrative and story-telling in my final year of study. I enjoy using oil paints and acrylics to focus on the study of light and water in nearly all of my pieces which now range to larger paintings on board to smaller expressive sketches on paper and card.
